Recording is complete!!

Well we’ve done it!! Lots of hard work and an awful lot of laughs!!! The first stage is complete, we’ve recorded all the tracks for the CD. It has to be said that some took longer than others but we were pretty pleased with them all by the end. Friday evening we did our alloted 4 tracks and then pushed on to try and get ahead of ourselves. This proved to be a bit of a mistake as voices atarted to sound very tired and mistakes began to get a little more frequent!! So the next day we went back to the original plan and recorded the last 5 and they definitely sounded a lot better! The whole process has been a fantastic experience so far, really making us think about the songs more carefully. We finished up with a big fish and chip party!! Never seen so much food!!

A huge thank you too to all those who looked after our children during the sessions. Without you we wouldn’t have been able to do it!!!

Now we move on to the next stage where Rob does most of the work mixing the stuff together. I’m heading over to see him tomorrow to have a look at some of that and I’m expecting to be on a sharp learning curve!!! Will be very interesting I think!! There are some more of my pics below including a montage of the team!! Have really enjoyed spending the extended time with them over the last week!

The team involved over the three sessions!!!!

Looks good huh?

Stuff I don't really know how to use!!!

Colin the interviewer?

We worked Rob so hard he needed a massage!!

The big tidy up!!!

I’ll post more as the process carries on. Artwork and posters are all being prepared too and we also turn our minds to the launch concert in a couple of months time!! Exciting stuff!!

First day of recording!

We’ve started!!!! Had a fantastic evening of recording yesterday. Spirits were high and it all went really well! We got down 4 songs which was pretty good going. We’re recording it ‘as live’ so that we all play together rather than doing each track separately so that makes it a bit quicker! Here are some pics of the evening:

The scene is set!

The scene is set!

Soundman extraordinaire!! All systems go!!!

Colin holding it all together on the drums!!!

Let the music begin!!

Its amazing looking at the photos how often people are inadvertently doing something daft when a photo is taken!! I’ve found nail biters, trouser puller uppers, nose scratchers to name but a few!!! Lol!! As well as my mobile pictures we’ve been getting some proper ones too and I’ll get a montage of these up once we’re all done!

So the actual evening. We had a feast of a tea together beforehand, excellent chilli!!! Then the big set up began. Wires everywhere and loads of stuff to plug in and set up but we managed to start fairly close to on time!! Things seemed to be going pretty well but then we dicovered a technical hitch on the recording of the drums!! Once this was sorted all the technical stuff went really smoothly and we set about the four songs planned with enthusiasm!! God was definitely guiding us through this as there were very few mistakes and only a few bits that needed to be redone!! So having done a few runs of each one we had a listen which is always interesting although I am getting used to hearing myself sing now and don’t cringe so much anymore!! At least that was until Rob decided to play my vocals and remove everything else from it!! A humbling experience!!

We were really pleased with the way the raw tracks were sounding, there was just one that we decided to redo to clear up a couple of bits!!

So day 1 is done and we now have a few days rest with the next session being on Friday evening. Looking forward to it. In the meantime hopefully Sarah and I will get some chance to really put some work in on our own songs as it is half term and for once we don’t seem to have loads planned!!

If you could please pray that the recording continues to go really well and that God inspires Sarah and I with His songs that would be fantastic!!

Next update coming soon!!

Ready to record

Well had a fab day today. Firstly we had baptisms at church with 5 people being baptized. I had the privilege to do 3 of them which was fantastic. Here’s a shot of ‘The Big Guy with the Big Laugh’ Dave just before we dunked him! He only just fitted in the pool!!! Fantastic testimony he gave too!! I love to hear people’s stories!!

After the service we continued with our rehearsals for the new CD. All went well and I think we are set!! Hope so because recording starts tomorrow!!!!! I am really looking forward to it! Its always a good time of laughter and fun. We’ve got 3 sessions planned over the next few days so they’ll be pretty full on if we’re going to get done what we want to. Please pray that voices and fingers hold up!! I’m aiming to capture the time on camera and so will be posting fairly regularly this week with updates on how its all going and what’s going on!!

Sarah and I are also looking to put together a much simpler recording of some of the songs we’ve been writing over the last few months!! I’ll get some posted on here as soon as we have them!! It’d be great to get your thoughts on them both positive and negative!! In all things we aim to grow so really welcome honest feedback because its through this that we are able to grow the most!!

So first recording session tomorrow evening watch out for photos and updates on how it has gone over the next couple of days!!

God Bless

CD rehearsals

Had a fantastic afternoon today up at church rehearsing for the upcoming CD recording. We managed to run through 8 of the songs for the CD and all went pretty well it was just a question of tightening up a few bits. What I love about times like this is the sense of family that we have, so rather than stressing when things go wrong we spent time laughing and encouraging each other!

So we have our normal rehearsal time on Friday, then one more rehearsal next Sunday and the next day is our first day of recording!! The main things we need to do now are sorting out the artwork for the case and getting together the advertising for the concert, oh yes and come up with a name for the CD, we have a couple of possibilities at the moment!! So watch out for posts over the next couple of weeks on rehearsals and as soon as we have them I’ll post the artwork and perhaps some samples from the recording. So watch this space for sneak previews and I’ll keep you up to date with activities!!!
